FAQs

  • WHAT IS TALLOW?

Tallow is pure, rendered beef fat, traditionally sourced from the suet around the kidneys and loins. When carefully purified, it creates a nutrient-dense balm rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids. Its structure is remarkably similar to human sebum, which makes it highly compatible with our skin’s natural barrier.

  • WHAT IS THE SELF LIFE?

Beef tallow is naturally stable and has an impressive shelf life, especially when stored with care.

At Room Temperature: When stored in a cool, dark place in an airtight container, beef tallow can stay fresh for up to 4-6 months.

In the Refrigerator: Refrigeration can extend shelf life to 12–18 months, helping preserve its texture and quality.

  • DOES IT WORK WITH MY SKIN TYPE?

Yes. Tallow works with all skin types — dry, oily, sensitive, combination, mature. If you have oily skin, a little goes a long way, so start small. Sensitive skin? Patch test first before going all in. And don't forget your body — tallow is just as incredible head to toe as it is on your face.

  • IS IT SAFE FOR BABIES OR SENSITIVE SKIN?

Yes! Tallow is incredibly gentle and safe for delicate baby skin & kids. Use it as a daily moisturizer, diaper cream, or calming balm for sensitive spots. Always patch test first, just like with any new product.

  • WHERE DOES SHAAE SOURCE THEIR INGREDIENTS?

Our tallow comes from our own family's USDA-grade facility — we know where it comes from because it comes from us. Essential oils and botanicals are sourced from trusted suppliers held to the same standard.

  • WHERE DOES SHAAE COME FROM?

Shaae is inspired by our founder's middle name, Shae. Growing up around my family's calf ranch shaped everything. This brand is a reflection of that upbringing and a deep respect for the animals that made it possible. Every jar is a way of honoring them, and your skin.

PRODUCT CARE

  • HOW DO I USE THE TALLOW BALMS?

Scoop a small amount with clean hands or a spatula and apply to clean skin. It works as a daily face moisturizer and is just as great all over the body.

  • OTHER WAYS TO USE YOUR TALLOW BALM

Dry cuticles and cracked heels — it works fast. Lips as an overnight treatment. A little on damp hair ends to tame frizz and add shine. Under-eye area before bed for that deep moisture your skin absorbs overnight. And yes — a small amount buffed into leather jackets or purses brings them right back to life.
